We decided to stay close to home for our August hike. On the morning of the 16th we hiked arround Pass Mountain in the Usery Park. We started at the Tonto National Forest trailhead at the end of Meridian Road at 6:30 am. Just before we arrived we saw a coyote. We decided to take the loop counter-clockwise. We passed several hikers and mountain bikers on the trail. It was a good workout. We finished the nearly 8 miles in about 3.5 hours. The last leg was brutally hot. Of course it’s still summer and it’s to be expected. We had a nice breeze at times. There were a lot of butterflies along the trail and we also saw quite a few caterpillars. We had fun and plan to do it again.
