Since this hike was on a holiday (Sep 1) we new we would have to get an early start to be the crowds. We set the alarm for 4:45 am and we were out the door a half hour later. We hit the trail at about 6:00 am and had great weather the whole way. Since the hike is in a draw on the west side of the Superstition Mountains we were in the shade for almost the whole hike. This hike was quite steep on the last half and we had to get over large boulders in places. There was a light rain the night before so there was some run-off on the cliffs of the canyon. The view was great!
